The AAD Program encourages students to research and identify professional associations pertinent to their areas of academic interest and career aspirations, and to maintain membership in a select few during and after their time as graduate students. The Program recognizes the intellectual value, professional development opportunities, and networking potential presented by such associations at all stages of one's career advancement, and thus we encourage students to be involved as early as possible in order to benefit from and further contribute in a meaningful way to the development of the arts and culture sector.
Many associations provide a dicounted full membership rate for students, which offers an excellent opportunity to explore membership benefits with various associations at a lower cost prior in order to make an informed decision about long-term membership in the future.
Below are links to a number of professional associations in the arts and culture sector that provide individual memberships (many more are designed for agency or organization-level membership). We hope this helps you to identify opportunities for membership and involvement during your graduate years.
