Letter from the Director

This site features information about the Arts Management master's degree program, the undergraduate community arts minor (there is no undergraduate major at this time), students and faculty, and links to important information resources for arts professionals. This includes the new addition of RESEARCH & PUBLICATIONS section.

Included on this site is all of the necessary information and paperwork for your application to the graduate degree program in Arts Management. Our dynamic program is attracting diverse national and international interest. Graduates of the program are finding high-level administrative positions; please see the web page showing a selected list of alumni placements.

As an academic field, we are connected to a network of more than 30 other master's level degree programs located throughout the United States, comprising the membership of the Association of Arts Administration Educators, which has served the field since 1975.

The UO master's in Arts Management is designed to prepare arts managers as leaders and policy makers in public and private arts and cultural organizations. Educational strategies involve the development of learning communities and team projects. Concentrations are available in community arts, museum studies, and performing arts management. Distance learning opportunities are available in the undergraduate curriculum, as well as components of some graduate courses.

The following information is critical to successful application to the UO Arts & Administration master's program:

  • all application components must be received by the program office by February 1st, each year for the following fall term admission (admission is not available during other terms)
  • international students must have a minimum TOEFL score of 575 (paper test) or 233 (computer test) in order to be considered for, and to find success in, our program; scores must be submitted with other application materials
  • no other standardized test is a requirement
  • financial aid information may be requested by calling 1-800-760-6953 (free domestic call)
  • graduate fellowships are available to second-year students in the Arts & Administration Program only, and are limited in number and term availability
  • off-campus housing information may be obtained by calling (541) 346-3731.

If you are looking for a program that addresses management and policy issues across the arts and cultural disciplines, and if you feel that you would like to contribute to the field of arts and cultural management, we encourage you to apply.

Best wishes,
