Festival and Event Management Certificate

The Arts & Administration Program, in partnership with UO's Division of Continuing Education, also offers a Festival & Event Management Certificate. Throughout the year, several workshops on various aspects of festival and event management are offered to students interested in learning more about the growing events industry. These workshops are facilitated by successful event managers representing some of Oregon's best known festivals and events, and are held primarily in Eugene and the Portland area between September and June. The workshops are part of a larger professional development opportunity available to students while at the University. This unique program has the support of the Oregon Tourism Commission, and the Certificate has been endorsed by the International Festivals & Events Association, the Oregon Festivals & Events Association, and the Convention & Visitors Association of Lane County, Oregon. Besides completing six workshops, certificate recipients must take AAD 520 Event Management, complete AAD 609 Practicum for 4 credits, and complete AAD 606 Special Problems for 2 credits. Certificate in Not-For-Profit Management

The UO Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management (PPPM) offers a Graduate Certificate in Not-for-Profit Management that may easily be combined with graduate studies in arts administration. The 24-credit Certificate requires completion of 14 credit hours of required courses in PPPM, comprised of coursework in nonprofit management, financial management, fundraising, and grantwriting. The remaining 10 required credits may be applied to the Certificate from coursework required for the master's degree in arts management. The student's summer internship must take place in a non-profit organization. After a student is admitted to the Arts and Administration Program, a streamlined application process exists to enroll in this Certificate option. To learn more about combining a master's degree in arts administration with a certificate in not-for profit management, please refer to the PPPM Certificate website (http://pppm.uoregon.edu/grad/nonprofit)
